A wicketkeeper and left-handed opening batsman from Jharkhand, the same state MS Dhoni is from, Ishan Kishan led India at the Under-19 World Cup in 2016 in Bangladesh, where his team finished runners-up to West Indies.
He was picked by the Gujarat Lions for 35 lakhs in the 2016 season and in a rather dismal 2017 season for Gujarat, Kishan was one of the few positives to come out with his late order hitting. In the players auction for the 2018 Indian Premier League Ishan Kishan was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 6.2 Crores . He impressed immediately, showing a significant growth from his earlier years, with a range of shots and a safe pair of hands behind the stumps.
