After the first 5 seasons, where they qualified for the play-offs thrice, they have not managed to qualify for the playoffs even once. Among the teams that have been part of IPL since its inception, Delhi Capitals remain the only side yet to play in a final. This season, Delhi Capitals have managed to get Shikhar Dhawan, With batting unit that can blow away oppositions, Delhi Capitals look a force to reckon with.
The franchise also confirmed that Shreyas Iyer will continue to lead the team. Iyer was given the leadership role after Gautam Gambhir stepped down as captain midway during the last season. The team boasts of a battery of young Indian stars which include captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. Dhawan returns to Delhi Capitals for the 2019 IPL season after being traded by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
